Frequently Asked Questions
How does AkFit calculate my calorie and macro targets?
AkFit uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation — one of the most widely validated formulas for estimating your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE). Your targets are based on your age, sex, height, weight, activity level, and fitness goal (fat loss, maintenance, or muscle gain). You can adjust your targets manually at any time in Settings.
Can I search for foods that aren't in the database?
If you can't find a specific food, you can use Quick Add to manually enter the calories and macros for any item. You can also scan a barcode to look up packaged foods. If you find a food that's missing and should be included, let us know — we're actively expanding the database.
How do I change my serving size?
When logging a food, tap the portion selector to choose a different serving unit (e.g., oz, cup, tablespoon) and adjust the quantity. The macro values update in real time as you change the portion.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your food logs, profile data, and progress are only accessible to you. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. You can read our full
Privacy Policy for details.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings in the app and tap "Delete Account." This permanently removes your profile, all food logs, saved meals, favorites, and progress data. This action cannot be undone.
Does AkFit work offline?
AkFit requires an internet connection to search for foods, sync your logs, and look up barcodes. We recommend using it with a stable connection for the best experience.
Is AkFit a medical app?
No. AkFit is a nutrition tracking tool. The calorie and macro targets it provides are estimates based on standard formulas and are not medical advice. Always consult a healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes.
How do I report a bug?
Email us at akfitapp@gmail.com with a description of what happened, what you expected, and what device you're using. Screenshots are always helpful.
